Dallas college student seeking dependable car?

i go to a community college and i have been for working for over 2 years i have no credit so every car dealership in my area is looking to screw me i thinking about used car 3-4 thousand dollars. i live 10mi from work and 10 mi from school i need to drive to addison from irving twice a week. i wondering if anyone can help me with some advice on what kind of used car is going to be dependable for me.
