National guard enlisting question?

i recently talked to a recruiter from the national guard in the state of new jersey about becoming an officer by going to ROTC in college and he told me that i cant do it without enlisting. is this true??. Also he told me about the benefits that comes with it like housing, health insurance, and free schooling in rutgers university. is this true?. He also said that i would not be sent to iraq unless i chose a career path taht has to do with a field related job like infantry, i want to work on aviation so idk if in that field i would have to go to iraq? please help me to find out if he's lying about me going to iraq and the benefits that he mentioned beacause it just sound way too good to be true also mentioning the pay of startin with 2,500 a month plus housing. am i being fooled or not help with all my questions.....plzzzz!!! thank you!!!
